the hyenas are in the closet and the skunks are behind the curtains.

ah, preschoolers. whoever came up with 'terrible twos' evidently hadn't entered the threes just yet. duh. while there are plenty of lovely things about them, they are challenging creatures. yes, i said creatures. sometimes i wonder if my sweet noey is not noey at all but actually a swamp monster. the girl knows what she wants, when she wants it, or then again maybe not. ive made pb-n-js only to say that she didn't actually want the 'j' on it. heavens. and no, i did not make another sandwich, her choice was to eat it or remain hungry until dinner. then she'll totally surprise me later with the world's most lovely attitude. at dinner last night she said "this mac n cheese is so yummy. thanks for making this, mom!" the why questions have started, and boy do they keep me on my toes. i find myself explaining things that are so overly basic that i actually have a hard time explaining because it's like breathing - something so basic you take for granted. for example: why you need to cook oats, close an envelope, animals live in nature, get a good night's rest, and why a 2.5 year old doesn't need to use a tampon. oh my little lovely. noelle is currently loving: her baby that closes her eyes, pretending to give people stamps, seashells, legos, the tire swing, scissors, the "stacy" song, kris's "jumping song" on the guitar, and The Bear Snores On. her very first school backpack arrived in the mail yesterday, insert heart-breaking sound effect here.
